Tourist dies on Mandvi beach after parasailing accident, two arrested | India News

A 48-year-old tourist from Jharkhand died in a jeep parasailing accident on a beach in Kutch district, police said on Monday. Police have arrested two people from a water sports company in connection with the incident that took place at Mandvi Beach on Friday, an official said.

The victim, Baldev Singh, a resident of Jamshedpur, was visiting the beach with his family and had decided to try out jeep parasailing offered by Shiv Water Sports, a private company, he said.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s wife, the agency did not provide safety equipment and the jeep to which the skydiver’s rope was tied was driven rashly, he said.

The victim fell from a height and was dragged into the distance by the speeding jeep, the official said, adding that the driver and helper fled the scene. He was admitted to a government hospital in Mandvi and later referred to a hospital in Bhuj where doctors diagnosed him on arrival, he said.

Police on Saturday arrested company owner Pankaj Bhanushali and another person under Section 304 (intentional homicide) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
