STORMtracker alert until Saturday morning

(WALA) – We will be back in STORMtracker alert mode tonight and into Saturday morning.

A very unstable air mass and a slow-moving front pose the risk of severe thunderstorms. The main threats are gusty winds and medium-sized hail.

Flooding is also possible tonight and into Saturday morning. A flash flood warning is in effect.

The Storm Prediction Center’s current level is Level 2, with a low risk of severe storms.

The risk of rip currents on our area beaches will be very high through Sunday. Strong tidal fluctuations and a gusty southerly wind increase the risk of dangerous currents.

Coastal waters will continue to be very rough as a minor boat warning is in effect.

Better weather is expected on Sunday this weekend. Daily highs will be in the upper 80s. Nights will be mild with lows around 68°C.

Expect calm weather next week!
