A man died after an officer-involved shooting in Greenbrier County

FAIRLEA, WV (WVNS) – A man is dead after brandishing a gun at West Virginia State Police members in Greenbrier County.

On Monday, May 6, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., West Virginia State Police members responded to reports of a man with a gun in the Fairlea area of ​​Greenbrier County.


At the scene, Corporals DP Dillon and JC Mann found Justin Denver Grant. They asked Grant to put down the weapon, but Grant refused, even after being insulted.

The situation escalated and Grant was shot by Corporal Dillon. Grant was taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, where he was confirmed dead.

Corporals Mann and Dillon were not injured and West Virginia State Police are investigating the situation.
