Buffalo man charged in stabbing of 3 Buffalo psychiatric center employees

In a news release shared by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, it said Calvin W. Haskins, 34, was arraigned Wednesday morning before an Erie County Court judge for the following offenses:

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, when Haskins allegedly stabbed the three employees intentionally behind the attacks. The incident occurred inside an outpatient accommodation unit at the center.

Haskins was accused of trying to cause the death of one of the employees, a man who was stabbed multiple times with a knife. A second employee, a woman who tried to intervene during the attack, was also stabbed. Then the third employee, another man who also intervened, was stabbed multiple times, with Haskins making the alleged attempt to cause death.

Haskins’ arraignment will take place in Buffalo Municipal Court and until then he will be held without bail. He was also found fit to stand trial.

If Haskins is convicted of the highest charge, he will face a maximum sentence of 57 years in prison. All three employees had temporary protection orders issued in their names.
