Valley City man injured in motorcycle accident in rural Barnes County

(Barnes County, ND) – A 45-year-old Valley City man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and veered off Barnes County Road 21 Sunday evening.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Barnes County Road 21 and 30th Street SE, two miles north of Valley City.

The driver was traveling south on County Road 21 toward Valley City when he lost control of his 1980 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, left the road and came to rest in the west ditch.

He was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

Barnes County Ambulance treated him at the scene before transporting him to a hospital in Valley City before being flown by Sanford AirMed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The man remains in the custody of Sanford and no information about his condition was available at the time of this report. He was arrested for driving under the influence.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
