Motorcyclist died in car crash in Boise after losing control of his motorcycle

A man riding a motorcycle south of Boise’s University District died Friday evening after he lost control of his bike and crashed into a large tree, police said.

According to Boise Police, the adult male, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was traveling at a high rate of speed on West Beacon Street near West Boise Avenue prior to the single-vehicle crash. He was thrown from the motorcycle and onto the road just after 7 p.m. Police did not say whether he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The evidence indicated that after the motorcyclist lost control, he drove onto the sidewalk and then crashed into a tree, police said. Upon arrival, officers provided life-saving aid before the man was taken to an area hospital. He later died there from his injuries.

Police closed streets on Beacon Street and Boise Avenue while they investigated and cleared the area.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the man’s identity in the coming days.
