Josh Hartnett admits he left Hollywood due to stalking incidents

Josh Hartnett

Stalkers drove me out of Hollywood

… Details Scary incidents

Josh HartnettHe delves into frightening moments from his past… and reveals that he left Hollywood because he was being stalked – including by a man who he says once came to his house with a gun.

The actor spoke with The guard via Zoom from his estate in Hampshire, England… a sprawling countryside where he lives with his wife, in part because life in LA became too dangerous.

JH says that wasn’t the only reason he left LA about 20 years ago… but that people started showing up at his house didn’t help, either.

According to Hartnett, these were outright stalking incidents… adding that once “a man showed up at one of my premieres with a gun and claimed to be my father. He ended up in jail.”

Deep down, Hartnett was afraid that fame would overwhelm him… and decided to change his life before Hollywood could put an end to it.

Of course, Hartnett is still making movies… including M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap, a psychological horror thriller that hits theaters this week in which he plays a serial killer who must escape a stadium-wide police operation – a perfect role for getting into the minds of his own stalkers.

Hartnett says he’s completely happy with his career trajectory, FWIW… adding that he’s spending a lot of time with his kids, which he probably wouldn’t have done otherwise.

Yet it seems his career could have turned out very differently… but H’wood himself made the man feel trapped.
