21-year-old man killed in first murder in York since 2022

YORK COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The first homicide in York since 2022 is under investigation following a shooting over the weekend, York police announced Monday.

Officers responded to calls regarding the fatal shooting on Saturday, May 4, just after 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Galilean Road.


Jai’Shaun Young, 21, of Gastonia, was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Autopsy and toxicology will be completed this week. The death remains under investigation by the York Police Department and the York County Coroner’s Office.

This remains an active investigation.
