Cosm, an immersive entertainment venue, is coming to Atlanta’s Centennial Yards

Cosm is the first addition to the next phase of Centennial Yards development, which will add approximately 470,000 square feet of entertainment, retail and dining space, including a flagship hotel, to downtown Atlanta. The entertainment district is to be built on a 7.5-acre site adjacent to the Atlanta Hawks’ State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium as well as the Five Points MARTA station, which developers say will connect it “to the rest of the city.” (Image courtesy of CIM Group/Centennial Yards)

An immersive entertainment venue is coming to downtown Atlanta to anchor the new Centennial Yards sports and entertainment district.

Centennial Yards announced July 22 that it has signed a long-term lease with Los Angeles-based digital technology company Cosm to create a 70,000-square-foot, three-level facility adjacent to State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The venue will feature an 87-foot-diameter, 12K-resolution LED dome to “broadcast live sports and experiential entertainment in shared reality,” according to a press release.

“Cosm’s experience is unprecedented, using its shared reality technology to provide guests with premier access to global events from downtown Atlanta to Centennial Yards,” Brian McGowan, president of Centennial Yards, said in the press release.

“With the existing world-class sports venues and the addition of Cosm, we believe Centennial Yards will become the entertainment center of gravity in Atlanta, connecting people of all ages to an incredible combination of sporting events, music, bars, restaurants and retail,” McGowan said.

Centennial Yards Company is a subsidiary of CIM Group, the developer of the $5 billion transformation of what was known as “The Gulch” into a massive 50-acre mixed-use development. A 19-story boutique hotel and a 19-story apartment building are currently under construction at Centennial Yards and are expected to open in 2025.
