One woman was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run in Bushwick

Police are searching for the driver of a blue Mazda CX5 that struck two women in Bushwick, killing one of them.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred just after 5 p.m. at the corner of Elder Street and Knickerbocker Avenue. They say a 71-year-old woman was hit and died. A 44-year-old woman was also hit and is expected to be OK.

The driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Elder Street and fled on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the scene. The suspect is described as a man wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans with a ponytail.
