Man accused of raping minor arrested in Noida

Noida (Uttar Pradesh) (India), July 9 (ANI): A man accused in the rape of a minor case was arrested after an encounter with police in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), a case was registered on Monday on the basis of a complaint in connection with the rape of a minor girl, aged around one and a half years, at Sadarpur in Noida Sector 39 police station area.
Subsequently, a police team was formed to arrest the wanted accused in the said incident.
With the help of electronic surveillance and local intelligence services, the police were able to track down the accused and catch him on Tuesday.
According to the information, the accused was hiding in the forest of Sector 42 under the police station premises.

After the accused was tracked down in the forest area, he fired at the police. In retaliation, the police returned fire.
The defendant suffered a leg injury during the altercation and was arrested.
A pistol and an empty cartridge case were confiscated from the defendant’s possession.
The police have filed charges against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
