A Californian kindergarten teacher is said to have been killed by her son during an argument

BURBANK, Calif. (TCD) – Police recently arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 57-year-old mother during an argument at their home.

According to a press release from the Burbank Police Department, officers and paramedics went to a home on North Avon Street around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, where they found Karyn Lombardo unconscious. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but Lombardo was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the victim lived in the home with one of her adult children, Kyle Lombardo, and her husband.

Police identified Kyle Lombardo as the prime suspect in his mother’s death and arrested him on murder charges. Further investigation revealed that Kyle Lombardo allegedly killed his mother “during an argument at the family home.” Authorities did not release any further details about how the victim died.

Bail for Lombardo was set at $2 million and he was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, May 9.

The victim’s husband told KTLA-TV that the suspect was suffering from mental health issues and they had already called police to their home.

Karyn Lombardo reportedly worked as a kindergarten teacher and was employed at Bret Harte Elementary School for over three decades. She began her career in 1990 as a bilingual teacher. KTLA reports that she and her husband were married for 31 years and had two children.

In a statement, Burbank Unified School District Superintendent John Paramo reportedly said, “Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Lombardo has touched the lives of thousands of students, parents and colleagues who will mourn this loss in the future.” Her warmth and passion for teaching have touched the lives of many students and colleagues, making her profound impact on this community felt throughout the city of Burbank.”
