Minors raped by gang in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, July 7: Police have arrested two suspects from Pokhara on suspicion of raping a minor. According to reports, the minor, who was from Myagde-4 in Tanahu, was lured by the suspects and then taken to Pokhara where she was raped.

The accused are Arun Kumar Das, 21, of Chhireshwarnath-10 in Dhanusha, and Sunil Kumar, 19, of Bihar, India, both currently residing at Ranipauwa-11, Pokhara.

According to Kaski police, the accused lured the minor on July 1 and took her to Pokhara on a motorcycle with registration number Ga 8 Pa 4280. She was then taken to a residence in Pokhara where she was threatened and raped.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basant Kumar Sharma, spokesperson of Kaski police, the accused were caught when they tried to escape from a police checkpoint at 3 am while they were taking the minor to her house in Tanahun.

Police said further investigations were ongoing and the Kaski District Court had ordered an extension of pre-trial detention for eight days on charges of kidnapping, hostage-taking and rape.
