Three people killed in accident in Milwaukee, including a 9-year-old

Three people were killed in a crash Friday afternoon near 91st Street and Mill Road in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Fire Department said two vehicles were involved in the crash, one of which struck a pole. Milwaukee police said a black car traveling south on North 91st Street collided with a tan car traveling west on West Mill Road that was attempting to turn left onto 91st Street. Michael Hoskins saw two cars speeding near the intersection and then heard a “loud bang.” “It actually flipped over, flipped over and wrapped around the light pole. At that point, we were all trying to run and resuscitate the woman, but we knew immediately she was dead because the engine eventually died on the ground,” Hoskins said. Hoskins and another witness, Idalia Rogers, were on the scene before emergency responders arrived. She and others at the scene ran to help people in both vehicles. Rogers said she helped a man out of the black car before turning her attention to the tan car, which she said contained a woman and child. “I told my daughters to grab something so we could, you know, help break the windows. But by the time we got to her, it was too late,” Rogers said. The driver of the first vehicle, a 55-year-old, was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. The driver of the second vehicle, a 28-year-old, succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle’s passenger, a 9-year-old, was extricated from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Rogers said this was the worst crash she’d ever seen and is the reason she wants to move after four years of living near the intersection. “I’m a little sad because there are a lot of accidents that happen around here, but nothing this bad. And this is a first for me. So I couldn’t do anything but cry because I have younger grandchildren and the thought that something like this could happen just breaks my heart,” Rogers said. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-Tips or through the P3 Tips app.
