Building fire in Gilbert leads to arrest of couple

Late Wednesday evening, firefighters responded to a reported building fire.

GILBERT, Arizona – Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday night after firefighters said they started a building fire.

According to Gilbert Fire and Rescue, firefighters and police were called to a structure fire near Higley and Guadalupe streets around 10 p.m.

When emergency services arrived on scene, they found a detached building engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but there were no injuries, according to Gilbert police.

Gilbert police have arrested two juveniles for arson.

This incident remains under active investigation by the Gilbert Fire and EMS Department and the Gilbert Police Department.
