Russian missile attack on Dnipro leaves four dead and dozens injured

Russian troops launched a missile attack on Dnipro on Wednesday morning, leaving three dead and 18 injured, including a child, the city’s mayor, Borys Filatov, reported on Telegram.

“Unfortunately, we already know of three dead and 18 injured, including a child,” Filatov said in a video message.

Later, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported on Telegram that the death toll had risen to four.

“27 people were injured, 11 of them are in hospital. Two are in serious condition,” he added.

At 12:55 p.m., Lysak reported that the number of injured had risen to 34.

“One third of them are in hospital. Two local doctors assess their condition as serious. Most people have shrapnel wounds, cuts, bruises and broken bones,” he added.

Filatov added that rescue workers, municipal services and the entire regional and city administration were deployed at the impact site.

“Let’s hope that the evacuation operation goes well and that we can help everyone,” he said.

Local media and Telegram channels report that a shopping center was damaged in the attack and publish photos and videos of the aftermath of the strike.

“As a result of the explosions in Dnipro, one of the shopping centers was damaged, according to correspondents on the ground,” reports Dnipro TV, without naming the specific center.

Media outlet Suspilne reported that a fire broke out near a medical facility in Dnipro and smoke was seen coming from one of the buildings. The facility’s director said there was currently no information about any other injuries or deaths.

On the morning of the attack, Russia launched kamikaze drones and missiles over Ukraine, causing explosions in Dnipro and Zaporizhia.

The night before, on July 1, Russia fired ballistic missiles at Dnipro. The attack injured seven people and damaged a supermarket and residential buildings.
