Steve Clark named to MLSSoccer.com Matchday Team

HOUSTON (July 1, 2024) – Houston Dynamo FC goalie Steve Clark was appointed to the MLSSoccer.com Team of the Day for the 23rd day, the league announced today.

Dynamo earned a 1-0 win over Charlotte FC at Shell Energy Stadium Saturday with a goal early in the fifth minute for Houston by Aliyu Ibrahim.

Clark made four saves in the match to deny Charlotte a goal and earn his fourth clean sheet of the season. The veteran goalkeeper’s biggest moment came in the 75th minute when he stopped Liel Abada’s shot with a crucial dive down the left side.

Clark is the 13th Dynamo player to be named in the matchday squad this season and is joined by Sébastien Ferreira (22nd day), Latif’s blessing (21st day), Franco Escobar (7th and 20th days), Hector Herrera (18th and 13th days), Andrew Tarbell (17th day), Amine Bassi (17th day), Erik Sviatchenko (15th day), Griffin Dorsey (13th day), Ethan Bartlow (9th day), Arthur (7th day), Brad Smith (6th day) and Aliyou Ibrahim (5th day). Head coach Ben Olsen was also named to the squad for Matchday 9 following Houston’s 2-1 win at Minnesota United FC.

Houston next travels to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, July 3 with kickoff set for 8:30 p.m. CT at America First Field.
