Accident in Fillmore Township leaves one dead and four seriously injured

There were five people in the car, including three children. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the other four passengers were seriously injured.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Michigan — One person is dead and four others are injured following a crash in Fillmore Township Sunday afternoon, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.

ACSO said dispatch received a call around 1 p.m. about a serious accident that occurred at the intersection of 136th Avenue and 58th Street in Fillmore Township.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a sedan traveling westbound on 136th Avenue failed to stop at a stop sign at 58th Street and was struck by a pickup truck traveling northbound on 58th Street.

According to ACSO, the intersection is a two-lane intersection for traffic on 136th Avenue, and cars traveling on 58th Street have the right of way.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, officials said.

According to ACSO, there were five people in the sedan, including three children. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the other four passengers were taken to a local hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said the road had been closed but has since reopened.

The accident remains under investigation by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
