Body of Sandy man recovered after rafting accident on Green River in Colorado

DINOSAUR, Colorado – The body of a Sandy resident was discovered in Colorado’s Green River on Friday, a day after he went missing following a rafting accident in Dinosaur National Monument.

National Park Service officials said the 50-year-old man was on an approved private tour on the river when staff were notified of a boat stuck on a rock in the Hells Half Mile rapids, a Class III/IV rapid.

One person was missing from the raft and was believed to be under the watercraft. When the group was later able to secure the boat, the unconscious man was discovered before he drifted down the river without a life jacket.
