Oppressive heat returns to the Middle State on Friday

TONIGHT:

We’ll have a pleasant evening, although humidity will remain fairly high for most. Temperatures will drop to the low 25s, high 21s, and high 18s for some early Friday. The low in Nashville will be 21 degrees.

FRIDAY TO THIS WEEKEND:

First Alert Weather Days with dangerous heat and humidity apply from Friday to Sunday..

After a pleasant start on Friday, temperatures will rise to over 35 degrees. Humidity will increase. Expect temperatures to feel like 38 degrees. The chance of rain for sudden showers or thunderstorms is 20%, with the Cumberland Plateau having the highest chance of rain.

Saturday will be even more uncomfortable with hotter and more humid weather. The heat index will be between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius Saturday afternoon, with the most oppressive temperatures along and near the Tennessee River Valley.

Late Saturday and into Saturday night, a few showers and thunderstorms should move in from the north. One or two storms could become strong to severe over northern Middle Tennessee and/or southern Kentucky Saturday night. Damaging winds will be the biggest concern. Rain chances are 30% Saturday, rising to 50% Saturday night.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected at least early Sunday as a cold front moves through. 50% chance of rain. Sunday will be hot and humid, but less so than Saturday.

MONDAY:

On Monday, light northeast winds will bring less humid and seasonable weather. High: 90.

TUESDAY & AFTER:

Tuesday through Thursday are First Alert Weather Days with dangerous heat and humidity.

Tuesday will bring another round of very hot and humid weather, which will continue for the rest of next week.

Tuesday looks to be dry.

There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday, as well as on Thursday, July 4th. The probability of rain then is 30%.
