One dead and one injured in double shooting in Central City

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – New Orleans police are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another person injured in Central City early Monday morning, June 24.

According to New Orleans police, officers were called to a shooting at the corner of Thalia and Barrone streets at 1:18 a.m.

Officers said they arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. NOLA EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The second victim was taken by car to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to NOPD.

Further details are not available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim after an autopsy is performed and the family is notified.
