69-year-old man last seen leaving hospital found dead

The four-day search for a Massachusetts man last seen leaving a hospital in a South Shore community ended Saturday with a tragic discovery. Rodney Riviello, 69, was last seen at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday leaving Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. Officials said he may have been walking toward Jabez Corner. Numerous searches were conducted in Plymouth, including in the Cedarville and Manomet neighborhoods. Searchers also reviewed security camera and surveillance camera footage during their search. Riviello was found dead Saturday afternoon at an undisclosed outdoor location in Plymouth, police and fire officials confirmed. “Members of the Plymouth Police and Fire Departments extend their sincere condolences to Mr. Riviello’s family and loved ones,” a statement said. “Chief Flynn and Chief Foley would like to thank everyone who assisted in the search this week.” Members of his family said Riviello had suffered from memory problems but celebrated his 70th birthday in a few weeks. In an earlier statement to NewsCenter 5, Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth said she was cooperating with police in the search for Riviello.

Search crews also reviewed footage from surveillance cameras and security cameras as part of their efforts.

Police and fire officials confirmed that Riviello was found dead at an unknown outdoor location in Plymouth on Saturday afternoon.

“Members of the Plymouth Police and Fire Departments extend their sincere condolences to Mr. Riviello’s family and loved ones,” they said in a statement. “Chief Flynn and Chief Foley would like to thank everyone who assisted with the search effort this week.”

Members of his family said Riviello had suffered from memory problems but would celebrate his 70th birthday in a few weeks.
