Man in Athens attacked with machete and seriously injured

According to Athens-Clarke County police, the man suffered “serious injuries,” including to his head and face. He is in critical condition. According to the victim’s sister, he was flown by rescue helicopter from a local hospital to Grady Memorial in Atlanta.

ACCPD was able to quickly locate the suspect and the weapon. They arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
