2 men arrested in connection with telephone fraud

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two New Jersey men in connection with a phone scam.

According to police, Vivek Shingarakhia, 24, and Kishan Gajera, 31, were arrested on June 18 for a scam. They say they received a call about a phone scam from someone claiming to be a revenue department police officer.

The scammer threatened the victim with arrest for drug trafficking if he did not pay $27,000.

Shingarakhia and Gajera face charges including attempted grand theft and conspiracy.
