Family members identify body of woman killed in house fire in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Family members have identified the body that emergency crews found in an apartment following a fire in Omaha late Monday.

The Omaha Fire Department was called to a three-story apartment building near North 48th and Taylor streets just after 11 p.m. One person was rescued from the building; another was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although the autopsy could not confirm who the body belonged to, family members told authorities that 56-year-old Roxanne Joseph lived in the apartment and they believe it was her.

The autopsy revealed that she died in the fire and suffered smoke inhalation.
