Police impersonators arrested in Florida

“We cannot allow impersonators to terrify the population”: Suspected police impersonators arrested in Stuart

A call about a suspicious vehicle with what appeared to be flashing police lights and sirens driving in downtown Stuart resulted in the arrest of three men. Police released body camera video showing the three men being questioned by Stuart police. Investigators say the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on June 9 in the 300 block of Southwest St. Lucie Avenue. According to police, several people called 911 and said someone in a black and white SUV, believed to be a police vehicle, pulled up and flashed their lights at them. They were then reportedly told over a public address system to put their hands up and move away from the car. Another man was told to get on his knees. “We cannot allow scammers to terrify the community and take away the legitimacy of our police officers when they are out there every day enforcing the law,” said Capt. Flamur Zenelovic. According to police, the men, all in their 20s, told officers they had no evil intentions. They were arrested and each faces a misdemeanor charge. Top headlines:

According to police, several people called 911 and said someone in a black and white SUV, presumably a police vehicle, pulled up and shined a spotlight on them.

They were then reportedly told over a loudspeaker system to put their hands up and move away from the car. Another man was told to get on his knees.

“We cannot allow fraudsters to scare the population and deprive our police officers of their legitimacy when they are out there every day enforcing the law,” said Captain Flamur Zenelovic.

According to police, the men, all in their twenties, told police they had no evil intentions.

They have been arrested and each faces charges of impeachment.
