Fresno Police Union Holds Emergency Meeting on Paco Balderrama

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – The Fresno Police Union will hold a special board meeting on Wednesday to discuss the investigation into Police Chief Paco Balderrama.

This followed allegations of an inappropriate relationship outside of working hours.

This emergency meeting was called after the city’s top police officer sent an email to his staff apologizing for his actions, which “did not meet the standards I am expected to meet as a man of faith, husband and father.”

Last Thursday, the city issued a statement saying the police chief had advised them in February that charges would be brought against him.

An independent investigator then launched an investigation to determine whether Balderrama had violated department policies.

The city said Chief Balderrama will remain on duty during the investigation and will continue to serve as Fresno Police Chief.
