Man arrested for alleged assault and robbery in Alabaster

ALABASTER, Alabama (WIAT) – Alabaster police announced the arrest of a man suspected of being responsible for a robbery over the weekend.

According to APD, officers responded to a 911 call to a closed gas station around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. Initial information indicated that a vehicle had been stolen there. Upon arrival, officers found an injured victim.


The victim stated that they were driving 30-year-old Michael King of Bessemer home when the assault occurred. King then took their vehicle and drove away north on I-65.

Pelham officers found the vehicle and attempted to stop King. King was arrested on Oxmoor Road in Birmingham and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal damage, second-degree assault, attempting to flee and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He is being held without bail in the Shelby County Jail.
