“We condemn the Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, which killed hundreds of Palestinian civilians,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on June 9.

The “barbaric attack” on June 8 adds a new one to the list of war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, the statement said.

“We call on the institutions responsible for maintaining international peace and security, in particular the UN Security Council, to assume their responsibilities and put an end to Israel’s commission of these crimes,” it continues.

Israel said its forces rescued four hostages alive in Nuseirat. According to the Hamas-run government media office, 210 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured in the attacks.

The Israeli military said the four, who were in “good health,” were kidnapped from the Nova music festival during the Hamas attack on October 7 last year.

Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 22, Andrey Kozlov, 27, and Shlomi Ziv, 41, were rescued in a complex daytime operation from two different buildings “in the heart of the Nuseirat camp,” the military said.

Israeli police said an officer was fatally wounded during the operation, which was carried out despite growing international pressure on Israel following a deadly attack on a UN-run school in Nuseirat where displaced Gazans had sought refuge.
