STORMtracker alert Thursday night and Friday morning

(WALA) – Unseasonably high humidity continues today along the Gulf Coast, with strong southerly winds creating high rip current risks on all area beaches. The humid air will stay with us until a front wipes everything out on Friday. Highs will reach 90 degrees this afternoon and the “feels like” temperature is likely to be above that. So make sure you stay hydrated and stay cool in the afternoon hours.

The chance of rain is low today, but that will change when the front arrives on Friday. There will be showers/storms before then. Rain coverage should reach 50%. The main threats will be gusty straight winds and possible hail. The chance of a tornado is not very high, but it is important to monitor the storms as they move. Once they’re over, we should have perfect weather for Mother’s Day weekend. The humid air is easing and we’re seeing morning temperatures in the upper 50s this weekend with highs in the lower 80s and plenty of sunshine!
