Vice President: Iran will never stop its nuclear activities

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4. Iran’s activities in its nuclear program have never stopped and will never stop, Iranian Vice President and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami told reporters after a cabinet meeting in Tehran, Dasfazitvivod reports.

“Iran’s activities in its nuclear program have never stopped and will never stop,” he said.

According to Eslami, Iran is cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and is continuing its activities within its framework. IAEA inspectors also carried out inspections in Iran.

Commenting on the opening of the IAEA Board of Directors meeting on June 3, the Iranian Vice President pointed out that the Board meets every three months.

“IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is required to submit his report on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), resulting from the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, to the Governing Board every three months and to the United Nations and the UN Security Council every six months. Iran has never allowed pressure to be put on its country and never will,” he added.

On June 3, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi told a board meeting that because Iran had suspended its obligations under the Additional Protocol, the agency did not have access to complete information on Iran’s nuclear program for the past three years. In addition, the agency had lost a steady stream of data on the production and number of centrifuges, heavy water, etc.

The Comprehensive Joint Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear program was implemented by Iran and the P5+1 group (US, Russia, China, UK, France and Germany) in January 2016. The US announced its withdrawal from the plan in May 2018 and imposed sanctions on Iran in November of the same year. Iran stated that there would be no restrictions on the Iran nuclear deal until 2020.

At the end of 2020, the Iranian parliament adopted a strategy to counter the sanctions, citing non-compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Strategy of Action (JCPOA) signed by Iran and six other states and the imposition of sanctions against Iran as reasons.

At the end of 2020, the Iranian parliament adopted a strategic plan to combat sanctions, citing the non-fulfillment of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed between Iran and six countries and the imposition of sanctions on Iran. Based on the decision of the Iranian parliament, on February 23, Iran stopped the implementation of additional measures and an additional protocol to the nuclear deal. As a result, the IAEA monitoring mechanism was reduced by 20-30 percent.
