Police search for driver who hit and killed toddler in Hartford

HARTFORD, Connecticut (WTNH) – Hartford police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a toddler who disappeared from a laundromat Monday night.

Police said they received several 911 calls reporting that a toddler had been hit by a car on New Britain Avenue shortly before 11 p.m.

When police arrived, an unconscious girl was found in the street. She was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. She was almost two years old.

Police determined that the toddler had wandered through the open door of a laundromat on New Britain Avenue and was struck by a motorist who fled the scene.

The driver was last seen traveling westbound on New Britain Avenue. Police determined the vehicle involved to be a black 2013 BMW 328xi with Connecticut license plate BD98328.
