Disney Parks are widely known as the “happiest” and most “magical” places “on Earth,” but not all guest experiences are positive. Inside the Magic has reported on countless negative Disney guest experiences in recent months, including a woman who was taken hostage in her Disney Resort hotel at Disneyland Paris. Months earlier, hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests were kicked out of their rooms at 3:00 a.m.

Unfortunately, negative situations also occur in Disney theme parks. In May 2023, videos of a brawl at the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park went viral. After two families argued over a photo opportunity, Walt Disney World Resort staff had to cover up blood stains on the sidewalk. In October 2023, a similar brawl broke out at Disneyland Park, blocking a central pathway in Fantasyland and upsetting countless children nearby.

On Tuesday, TikTok user @jennybelly.cos shared her experience evacuating from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at Tokyo DisneySea. The underwater submarine ride unexpectedly canceled despite hundreds of guests being on board.

Like Finding Nemo: Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park, guests must board an underwater vehicle when they enter 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Once the attraction begins, the submarines are sealed and guests must remain inside for the duration of the ride. The TikToker experienced claustrophobic guests’ worst nightmare on Tuesday when they found themselves stuck underwater for an extended period of time.

Eventually, Disney employees arrived with ladders and “pulled” guests out by hand. They comforted guests and repeatedly asked if they were OK during the evacuation.

“That was so scary,” wrote the Disney Park guest.

Commentators were horrified by the evacuation of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

“Tokyo Disney really pushes the rides to the extreme,” said @itsbeboppu.

“Glad to hear you’re doing well,” @killer_zero_619.

Nevertheless, Disney Parks fans were impressed by the care and professionalism of the cast members during the incident.

“Ohhh they asked if you were okay,” wrote @animasian78.

“American Disney would just let you down,” joked @lebanesemac.

It is unclear what caused the evacuation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on Tuesday, but at the time of this article’s publication, the attraction was back to normal operation. Tokyo Disney Resort has not publicly commented on the incident.
