CT man allegedly sexually abused girls for nearly a decade

A Manchester man faces charges in federal court after authorities say he sexually abused a girl for nearly a decade and often recorded his sexual escapades.

Hernan Ayala, 32, appeared in federal court in Hartford on Thursday to face one count each of sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

Federal officials said Manchester police received a complaint in March alleging Ayala sexually assaulted a minor. The victim claimed he sexually assaulted her for more than eight years and recorded it on his cellphone, officials said.

According to federal officials, authorities searched Ayala’s Manchester residence the same day they learned of the allegations and seized numerous electronic devices, including his iPhone.

An analysis of the phone revealed “numerous videos and images” showing Ayala engaging in sexual acts with the minor, officials said.

Ayala has been in custody since his arrest on state charges on March 9.

According to federal officials, Ayala faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 50 years in prison on the charges.
