Taiwanese actor Aaron Yan receives seven-month suspended sentence for sex video scandal

Taiwanese actor Aaron Yan was sentenced to seven months’ probation for filming and publishing intimate videos of the then underage influencer Raku.

In its ruling on Thursday (May 30), the Shilin District Court found that Yan, 39, had recorded sex videos with a minor with the intention of distributing them.

Instead of serving a prison sentence, Yan has the option of paying a daily fine of NT$1,500 (RM217) and remaining on probation for the next three years.

During this time, Yan will be under supervision and must adhere to the conditions agreed with Raku in early March.

The settlement amount was not disclosed for confidentiality reasons, but it was reportedly NT$7 million (RM1 million).

Following the ruling – which can be appealed – Yan issued a statement through his management company Rise And Shine, thanking the judge for his clear verdict and noting his “candid self-reflection”.

Last June, Raku claimed on social media that he began a sexual relationship with Yan in 2017, when he was 16 and she was 31.

Raku also accused Yan of consensual sex because he recorded intimate videos of it without his consent and distributed the tapes.

In response to the allegation, Yan said the videos may have been leaked after he sent his phone in for repair.

He also burst into Raku’s press conference to apologize to the influencer.
