Father accused of child abuse arrested

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said a man was arrested on multiple charges, including child abuse and aggravated assault.

On Tuesday, May 21, YPD was notified by the Arizona Department of Child Safety of a five-month-old child who had sustained head injuries.

The child was flown from Yuma Regional Medical Center to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

Yuma police said detectives worked with Phoenix police and Child Protective Services where the incident occurred in the area of ​​38th Street and Avenue 12 1/2 E.

According to YPD, officers arrested 41-year-old Christiano Toilolo, the child’s father, on Friday, May 24.

He is being held on $250,000 bail and has committed a total of six capital crimes.
