Albany man arrested for assault and robbery

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — Albany Police announced an arrest has been made in connection with a robbery on Madison Avenue that occurred Wednesday evening. Lucas Healey, 42, of Albany, is charged with several counts.

On May 29, at approximately 6:35 p.m., police responded to the Shogun Cafe on Madison Avenue following a report of a robbery. After speaking with witnesses, officers determined that Healey had allegedly run up a large bill at the restaurant and attempted to leave without paying.


As he fled, Healey repeatedly punched a 49-year-old restaurant employee in the face who tried to intervene, knocking the man unconscious. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and taken to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.

Healey was still at the scene when police arrived and was taken into custody. Police say cocaine was found on him when he was arrested. Healey is now charged with the following:

  • Robbery in the first degree
  • Third degree assault
  • Theft of services
  • Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Healey was arraigned in the City of Albany Criminal Court and subsequently transported to the Albany County Jail.
