Chennai: A student of Pachaiyappa’s College was attacked by a group of students on Tuesday in the college premises. The attack was related to the route violence. The injured man, later identified as 20-year-old Peter from Madurai, was treated at Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital and discharged. Meanwhile, the attack on the student went viral on social media on Wednesday. Subsequently, the police filed a complaint against two students and launched a manhunt for them. Investigations revealed that Peter was walking on the verandah of the college campus on Tuesday afternoon when the students attacked him. An investigating officer said Peter suffered a head injury. “He stayed in Maduravoyal with his friends and travelled to Kilpauk from Maduravoyal by MTC bus. The attackers, identified as Prakash, Moideen and some others, are from Tiruvallur. “Police said Prakash and his friends often travelled from Tiruvallur to Chennai Central Railway Station and then boarded MTC buses to the college. “We are investigating whether the attack took place due to the unrest on the route as the accused and the victim were travelling in MTC buses,” an official said.
