MCTXSheriff investigates fatal industrial accident in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, TX – On May 28, 2024 at approximately 12:25 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a work-related accident in the 33000 block of Willow Heights Lane in Magnolia. A home under construction collapsed this afternoon during a thunderstorm while workers were on site. Preliminary investigation has determined that workers noticed the home begin to shift during the storm and that all but one was able to exit the home before it collapsed. Upon arrival, first responders quickly went to work and located the trapped man. It is with deep sadness that we report that a 16-year-old youth was unable to exit the building and was pronounced dead at the scene. It has been confirmed that the youth was an employee of the construction company and had permission to be on site. Next of kin have been notified of this incident, however the youth’s name will not be released. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit is on scene, along with Crime Scene Investigation, conducting their investigation. Although there does not appear to be any criminal background, it is Sheriff’s policy and procedure that all fatal industrial accidents be investigated. The deceased was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center where an autopsy will be performed. The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
