1 person killed, nine others injured in weekend crash in Nevada

ELKO, Nevada. The Nevada Highway Patrol said one person was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Elko County over the weekend.

According to NHP, the accident occurred around 11:45 p.m. Saturday on Highway 93 at mile marker 14, 60 miles south of Wells, Nevada.

According to NHP, a black Ford Expedition was traveling south on Highway 93. A red Ford Explorer and a silver Volkswagen Jetta were traveling north on Highway 93. For unknown reasons, the Expedition crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane. The front of the Expedition struck the front of the Explorer on the left side, causing the Expedition to spin.

According to NHP, the front of the Jetta then struck the right side of the Expedition, causing the Expedition to drive over the Jetta. The Expedition came to rest on its wheels, partially in the southbound lanes.

A passenger in the Jetta died at the scene of the accident from his injuries sustained in the accident.

A total of ten people were involved in the accident; the nine survivors were taken to hospitals in Nevada and Utah.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed. No further information has been provided on the surviving victims, including their origins and the severity of their injuries.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
