Woman raped by employee of Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore

LAHORE – A disturbing incident of sexual assault has been reported at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore.

Local media reports said a woman was raped by a staff member under the pretext of promising to speed up the heart surgery of her father, who was being treated at the leading cardiac hospital at the time.

The accused was arrested and charges were filed against him based on the woman’s complaint. After the woman’s medical examination, the police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

A similar but disturbing incident was reported from Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi, where a woman was raped in the X-ray room.

Sexual violence against women is a serious and widespread problem in Pakistan. Women in Pakistan are subjected to various forms of sexual violence, including rape, sexual abuse, domestic violence and harassment.

Many cases of rape and harassment go unreported due to social stigma, fear of retaliation and distrust of the legal system.
