Houston Astros Injury Report: Cristian Javier Daily

OAKLAND, Calif. — Astros starter Cristian Javier is dealing with forearm discomfort, manager Joe Espada said Sunday afternoon, a development that should at least delay the right-hander’s next outing.

Javier was supposed to throw a bullpen Sunday before the Astros series finale at the Coliseum, but he didn’t.

“Javi had a little discomfort in his forearm,” Espada said after Houston’s 5-2 victory. “So he wasn’t able to throw his bullpen today. So it’s day to day.

In this outing, Javier’s fastball ranged between 88.2 mph and 91.1 mph and his average velocity was down 1.5 mph from his season average. He later said he believed erratic mechanics caused the problem.
