Overnight storms could bring damaging winds

Day of Severe Warning: Nighttime storms could bring damaging winds

THIS WILL GO THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. MIGHT WAKE SOME PEOPLE UP. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 24 DEGREES, WINDS FROM THE SOUTH-SOUTHWEST, 10 KM PER HOUR, DEW POINT UP TO 10.5 KM. IT’S GETTING PRETTY HUMID OUT THERE. AND WHEN WE LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURE, LOOK HOW MILD IT IS EVEN AT THIS HOUR, 23 DEGREES, 23 KM IN BUTLER AND CRANBERRY AND 23 KM IN BEAVER, 23 KM IN WASHINGTON. SO WE HAVE A COLD FRONT MOVING INTO THE AREA AND BRINGING SOME RAIN SHOWERS AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE REGION. IT’S COMING PRETTY CLOSE. AND IN THE NEXT HOURS, OVERNIGHT, THAT COLD FRONT IS GOING TO MOVE THROUGH AND IT’S GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME SHOWERS THAT WILL MOVE IN. WHEN THAT WAS IN OHIO, WE HAD A LITTLE LONGER LINE OR IT WAS FILLING IN A LOT MORE. NOW WE’RE GOING TO SEE THAT FILLING IN A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN TO THE SOUTH, BUT WE’RE GOING TO SEE THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVE THROUGH DURING THE NIGHT HOURS. AND THEY’RE GOING TO MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST, THEY’RE ALL MOVING PRETTY MUCH TO THE NORTHEAST. THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE TOWARDS PITTSBURGH. SO WE COULD CERTAINLY SEE SOME THUNDERSTORMS THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. As we look at the areas that have the highest chance of a strong thunderstorm, which stretches from Pittsburgh all the way north toward the Erie area, let’s take a look at tonight. As you can see, there’s still a chance for some showers, heavy rain, possibly strong winds, and certainly some strong thunderstorms moving through the area in the morning hours. We’re heading into tomorrow. It’ll all be over by 8:00 AM. Noon and throughout the middle of the day. IT WILL BE DRY ON THURSDAY, AND THEN THERE MAY BE SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN. IT WILL CLEAR UP AGAIN TOWARDS THURSDAY AND THEN FRIDAY. IT COULD BE SOME CLOUDY IN THE MORNING, POSSIBLY FOG, BUT THAT WILL CLEAR UP AS THE DAY GOES ON FRIDAY. IT’S GOING TO BE A VERY NICE DAY, AND THEN WE’LL STAY HERE SATURDAY. WE’RE BACK TO THE CLOUDS, AGAIN TO THE SHOWERS. ONCE AGAIN, NOT IN THE MORNING, BUT IT’S COMING AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS THROUGHOUT SATURDAY. As we look tomorrow morning, thunderstorms are possible with a high of 66 degrees in the early morning hours with some rain, and then it moves into the afternoon. Scattered rain showers. Also some isolated thunderstorms possible. A high of 79 degrees tomorrow. Now Friday will be mostly sunny. A high of 82 degrees. We showed you the scattered rain showers coming in the late afternoon and evening hours Saturday, 82 degrees. On Sunday we’ll dry it out with a few additional clouds at 83 degrees, and then we’ll head into next week on Memorial Day Tuesday.

Severe Alert Day: Overnight storms could bring damaging winds

Thunderstorms will move in Wednesday into Thursday, some north of Pittsburgh. These are not as strong but did bring some hail and gusty winds. Since the thunderstorms are difficult to get going, there is a chance that the thunderstorms will stay away later on Wednesday. Our biggest window for active weather remains overnight, with rain and thunderstorms returning between 2 and 4 a.m. These will move through the area and leave western Pennsylvania by 8 a.m., so the later stages of the morning rush hour should be fine. Sudden showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected late Thursday, mostly south of I-70; otherwise the rest of Thursday will be dry. We’ll dry out Friday before the chance of rain returns as we head into Memorial Day weekend, with highs remaining near 80. WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Day with severe weather warning. Rain and thunderstorms, some heavy to severe, possible. Low 66. THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm south of I-70. High temperature 79. FRIDAY: Mostly sunny.
