Gunman shot and killed by Tulsa police officers

Tulsa police have confirmed that a man is dead following a TPD officer-involved shooting at 100 Gilcrease Museum Road.

Tulsa police said they were called just after 3:30 p.m. about a man shooting a gun at passing cars. When officers arrived, they found the man near a veterinary clinic on Gilcrease Road. According to TPD, the man shot in their direction.

Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Muellenberg said responding officers returned fire, killing the suspect.

“We responded to the suspect’s actions. “He clearly posed an ongoing threat to citizens and officers. And so officers had to do whatever was necessary to stop that threat,” Muellenberg said.

The officer will be placed on administrative leave. The Tulsa Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.

Tulsa Police are asking people to avoid the area of ​​Gilcrease Rd and West Reconciliation Way as the investigation continues.
