2 dead after altercation at Lawton Correctional Facility

LAWTON, Okla. (KFOR) – Two inmates died after an altercation at Lawton Correctional Facility on Friday.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) has confirmed that two inmates are dead and at least two other inmates have suffered serious injuries. They were transported to a local hospital – one of them via Medi-Flight.


“There was a group disturbance at LCRF resulting in several inmates being injured. It is currently under investigation by OIG. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is always concerned about the health and safety of the individuals in our care,” said Kay Thompson, Department of Corrections spokesman.

Two gangs were involved in the clash and the names of the inmates killed have been released. The facility is currently closed.

The ODOC said Lawton Correctional Facility has canceled visits through Sunday.

The altercation is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
