State budget includes funds for Licking and Cabool

When a state budget was passed before Friday’s deadline, two Texas county projects received funding, according to Rep. Bennie Cook, R-Houston.

There is $2 million for Shafer Road which has deteriorated significantly. It is northwest of Licking and is a route to the state’s Missouri Department of Conservation nursery. Sherrill Township turned the road over to the Missouri Department of Transportation because it did not have the resources to maintain it.

An additional $2 million is earmarked for the planned construction of a YMCA in Cabool.

A regional hospital, Phelps Health at Rolla, received $5 million.

The next step in the budget process is a review by Gov. Mike Parson.
