Yeng Constantino admits being affected by the Siargao incident

Sept. 26 – Yeng Constantino recently admitted that she was having a difficult time following the backlash she received in July over comments she made about the medical team at a hospital in Siargao.

As reported on Push, the singer, who recently spoke out about the issue, revealed that she never expected the massive backlash the incident generated, which led her to take a break from social media.

“It was the first time I was attacked so violently. I had culture shock and decided to stop using social media for a while. But I’ve always had a passion for social media and I really missed it,” she said.

The incident traumatized her so much that Constantino said just seeing the YouTube and Twitter logos made her nervous.

Constantino stated that after 12 years in show business, she thought she was strong enough to handle anything, but the incident left her vulnerable.

In late July, the singer came under fire for “doctor shaming” after she uploaded a vlog in which she expressed her frustration over the way a Siargao medical team and one of its doctors, Esterlina Tan, treated her husband Victor’s injury Asuncion treated.

The issue even caught the attention of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) when it released a memo defending Tan for her work.
