Carolina signs defenseman Kiondre Thomas from Houston Roughnecks

The Houston Roughnecks have finally sent a player to the NFL. DB Kiondre Thomas has signed with the Carolina Panthers, after trying out with several different teams this week.

Thomas has been an interesting story in the UFL this year. He was one of the biggest names Houston acquired in the offseason, but he was waived for the first few games. Thomas returned to the lineup in Week 4 and immediately made an impact — picking up an interception in their only win of the year.

Kiondre ultimately played six games for the Roughnecks. He had 14 tackles, one interception and two PBUs. He had a 64.6 defensive grade via PFF, with a 66.8 coverage grade.

The NFL is not new to Kiondre. He has spent time with a few teams, including the Browns, Chargers and Packers. Thomas recorded one tackle with the Chargers in 2021.

He will now seek to return to the highest level, with the Carolina Panthers.

Without the national platform the UFL gave Kiondre, who knows if this opportunity would have been possible. You can stay up to date on all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.
