MANHATTAN, NY (PIX11) – A teenager has been arrested in connection with an attack with a baseball bat that was caught on video in Lower Manhattan last month, according to the NYPD.

A 14-year-old is now facing assault charges. The incident occurred on June 25 in broad daylight near Monroe Street near Market Street, police said.

A 58-year-old woman was “shocked” when two people approached her from behind and began hitting her and attacking her with a baseball bat, leaving her with bruises, according to police and the woman’s son.

The incident was captured on video, which shows the woman walking on the sidewalk while the two people approach from behind.

She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

“They pushed the woman to the ground and started hitting her with a baseball bat. I heard her scream, bloodcurdling, like a scream,” a 23-year-old witness told PIX11 News.
