Da Vinci rapist from Midlothian back behind bars after crimes in Edinburgh

Da Vinci rapist Robert Green is back behind bars after hitting his ex-wife in a fit of rage.

Greens attacked his ex by pushing her against a fence in Scotstoun Avenue, South Queensferry, and threatening to throw a bottle at her.

During the attack on April 25 last year, the notorious monster also grabbed the woman by the face and hit her on the head, causing her injuries.

Greens, 47, was arrested following the attack. While on remand at HMP Edinburgh, he was caught by prison guards in possession of a SIM card between May 2 and 11.

When he appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex and possession of a prohibited communications device.

Prosecutors pleaded not guilty to charges that Greens behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, behaving aggressively, repeatedly uttering threats and repeatedly punching a bus stop in South Queensferry on April 25 last year.

Sheriff Douglas Keir sentenced Greens to 27 months in prison, retroactive to April 27 last year.

The sheriff also issued a restraining order prohibiting Greens from having any contact with his ex for the next two years.

Greens was dubbed the “Da Vinci Rapist” after he attacked and raped a college student in 2005 near Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian, a central setting in author Dan Brown’s book “The Da Vinci Code.”

The 19-year-old victim from Holland suffered horrific injuries that were initially thought to have been caused in a car accident.

Greens initially denied the attack and tried to shift the blame onto his twin brother, but eventually pleaded guilty to the savage attack at the High Court in Edinburgh in 2005.

The monster admitted to dragging the teenage victim across the floor, sitting on top of her, threatening her with a knife and asking if she was a virgin, then repeatedly punching her in the face and raping her.

Greens was sentenced to ten years in prison in April 2006.

He was released from prison in 2012 after serving two-thirds of his sentence, but was sent back to prison the following year for violating the terms of his release by visiting his ex-wife’s hometown.

He was released a second time in 2017, but was sent back to prison after a third violation.

Following his release from prison in 2022, Greens was evicted from his home following protests by concerned residents of Danderhall, Midlothian.

Residents took turns sitting outside the Neatoune Court property and police were called several times to keep the peace.

Just months later, Greens was allegedly attacked by a family member who discovered him hiding in a cupboard at his ex-wife’s home in Penicuik, Midlothian, in January last year.

The convicted sex offender is said to have developed a close bond with his ex after his release from prison, but was beaten by the angry relatives when they discovered him in his ex’s house.
